I would gladly keep my appointment scheduled for this coming week...if I only had a reason.
May I make a suggestion? Perhaps automated appointment reminders aren't the best idea? Or maybe just have a real person go through them before they're shipped out...just to check and see if anyone has died or otherwise no longer needs a scheduled appointment?
(I'm rather sad to see that we had this go 'round a few years ago and you still haven't changed.)

Incompetence sucks. Same thing happened to my grandmother after my grandfather died. And don't get me started on the mailings...
Sigh. Seriously.
They should know better. They really should.
Those are always beyond hurtful :(. I remember getting a live person call me to remind me about a fetal echo u/s with Quinn....about 2 weeks too late :>o.
I am so sorry for your loss....no words can even start to explain how sorry. Please know that you are in my thoughts and I am here to vent at if you need someone.

That is horrid, that they do this. They should have a person whose JOB it is to to cancel the pre-scheduled appointments. Sigh.
