Get lost fatso!

I guess China is out as an option.

"The rules, which take effect in May, require an adopting family to be composed of a man and woman between 30 and 50 years old who have been married at least two years (or five years if it is a second marriage). They cannot be obese or have a net worth less than $80,000. And anyone on an antidepressant or other psychiatric medication is out, a rule sure to raise anxiety levels in a neighborhood where seeing a therapist is considered unremarkable."

Yes, I find this news depressing also. I first read about the changes on Karen @ the Naked Ovary's site. I have toyed with the idea of international adoption for 2 years now but feel I would never be a sucessful applicant, so I have never lodged any documents. Based on this information, I think I would be considering another country because I am obese/not rich enough/occassionally on ADs. Where I live (in the state of Victoria) currently it has working relationships with China, Ethiopia, Fiji, Guatemala, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Philippines, Romania, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Taiwan. When I was doing some research (this time last year), I was dreaming about a Fijian baby. I have a friend who adopted 2 children, a boy and a girl from Korea and she was very happy with the process and general speed compared to China. Her kids are 4 and 2 now and she got them as 6 month old babies. Even so, I would still be terrified of Adoption not being sucessful for me either. I hope you have more courage about this than me. Thinking of you.
