I don't care what anyone says

My co-worker (and friend) has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

My friends' baby has been diagnosed with aortic stenosis and now has to have a "procedure" to hopefully stave off the need for heart surgery.

And then there is Lisa and all that she is going through.

And Julie losing her friend.

I don't care what anyone thinks...things do NOT happen for a reason.

There is no reason. Things just happen. Good things. Bad things. They just happen.

If you don't agree with me, keep it to yourself.

If there could possibly be a reason...I can't fathom what it would be...I'm so sorry for both of your friends.

My husband has aortic stenosis. He had surgery at 1 (probably the same procedure your friend's baby will have). He is now a healthy 31-year-old. He has not had any more surgeries since that first one 30 years ago. He rowed in high school and now plays softball weekly.

He only has typical guy issues - selective hearing, doesn't see trash, not capable of hanging a towel or putting down the toilet seat...

This has been a sucky week.

I'm with you all the way. Things happen for no reason whatsoever. And they just keep on happening.

Agreed.

No reason. None at all. No matter how much better it may make the speaker feel. Dat's all.

I completely agree...

Things do not happen "for a reason" and I'm sick of hearing "God gives you what you can handle".

Both are a load of bullshit to me. Shit just happens, plain and simple. It totally sucks too.

I'm sorry so much is happening right now. Hopefully it will start to head in the right direction soon.

I agree with you 100%. Anyone who believes otherwise is just fooling themselves, IMHO.

Dear Catherine, I just came over here from Lisa P's blog. I couldn't agree more with you that there is no reason to any of this, good or bad. And thinking there is a reason doesn't lessen the sadness in any way -- it just adds to the bewilderment and rage. I've never understood how the idea that intensely cruel things happened for some nebulous PURPOSE would help anyone.

And I am so thrilled to know you are pregnant again. I will be wishing you and your baby nothing but joy and health, and a huge spark of luck. I'll be thinking of you and your family every single day and sending you all the hope and support I can.

I do agree with you, you know that. I actually have a lot to say these days touching this subject...

I totally agree. Bad stuff happens and it SUCKS. I am so, so very sorry about all the bad news. Praying for some really good news soon.
P.S. I'm really glad to hear all is well with GB!

Agreed. It's all an odds game. Sometimes you lose sometimes you win. Sometimes your odds are higher and sometimes lower. Even given all the odds, it comes in the end to statistics and related outcomes.

oh completely agree too! We have four kids - two of whom are multiply disabled boys and my mother in law keeps telling us we are "special" and that "God only selects special people for this" and that we are "blessed"........ In the midst of the sleep deprived days and nights, the screaming, the barbaric tantrums and our daily pain we still turn to eachother and grin and say "we're blessed" (sarcastically of course..) :) I do believe in the saying though that "what doesn't kill, makes me stronger" as I am a thousand times stronger than I ever was - but what I'd give to be weak and naive again...

So with you... no matter how hard I want them to happen for a reason. They just happen.
