Happy 6th Birthday Samuel

My sweet sweet baby Sam.
Not a baby any more.
A self-proclaimed "big kid."

Measured on the back of mama's closet door.
Grown so much in six short years.
Taller...
and smarter
and funnier
and wiser
and more handsome.

Six years ago I held you for the first time.
This morning I hugged you again and wished you a happy birthday.
You smiled and said, "Thanks mommy, I love you"
and you went off to school for the day with my heart.

to mark this special place in time...
to remember the best parts of the last six years...
to celebrate the unique being you are...
